The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the official notification for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online for admission to 5-year Integrated LL.B (UG) and 1-year LL.M (PG) courses in participating NLUs across India.

Payment Mode: Online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, or Wallets.


🧑‍🎓 Eligibility Criteria

For UG Program (BA LL.B – 5 Year)

  • Qualification: Passed 10+2 or equivalent with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD).

  • Students appearing in 12th in 2026 are also eligible.

  • No age limit.

For PG Program (LL.M – 1 Year)

  • Qualification: LL.B. degree or equivalent with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD).

  • Final-year LL.B. students can apply.

  • No age limit.

Candidates are strongly advised to read the official notification thoroughly to understand the complete eligibility criteria before applying.

📝 Exam Pattern

UG (BA LL.B)

  • Type: Objective (MCQs)

  • Duration: 2 Hours

  • Total Questions: 120

  • Subjects:

    • English Language

    • Current Affairs including GK

    • Legal Reasoning

    • Logical Reasoning

    • Quantitative Techniques

  • Marking: +1 for correct, -0.25 for wrong answers

PG (LL.M)

  • Objective questions from:

    • Constitutional Law

    • Jurisprudence

    • Other core law subjects


📄 How to Apply

  1. Visit the official CLAT portal.

  2. Register with a valid email and mobile number.

  3. Fill in personal, academic, and communication details.

  4. Upload scanned documents:

    • Photograph

    • Signature

    • ID Proof

    • Caste/Category certificate (if applicable)

  5. Select program preferences and test center.

  6. Pay the application fee online.

  7. Submit the form and take a printout of the confirmation page.


Key Points to Remember

  • CLAT is conducted only once a year.

  • Admission is based on merit + preference of NLUs.

  • Counseling and seat allotment are done through centralized CLAT counseling.

  • All documents must be submitted during counseling, including:

    • 10th & 12th mark sheets

    • CLAT Scorecard

    • Category certificate

    • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
