Educational Qualification :
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must have been duly enrolled as an Advocate for a period of not less than seven years and Must have practiced, as such, during the said period
- Must be an income tax assessee for a period not less than three assessment years (preceding the date of application), with gross professional income of not less than rupees five lakhs per annum
- Must have passed matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language, specified by the Government from time to time.
- In the light of Judgment dated 19.02.2020, passed by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in S.L.P. (C) No.14156 of 2015 titled as ‘Dheeraj Mor Vs. Hon'ble High Court of Delhi’, an Advocate has to be continuing in practice for not less than 7 years as on the cut-off date and at the time of appointment as District Judge. Members of judicial service having 7 years’ experience of practice before they have joined the service or having combined experience of 7 years as lawyer and member of judiciary, are not eligible to apply for direct recruitment as a District Judge.
